Description

The Biology Graduate Student Association (BGSA) is an organization that represents the needs and concerns of Biology graduate students. All graduate students in Biology are members. Officers, representatives, and committees are nominated and elected solely by the graduate students. BGSA officers are responsible for steering the organization. Meetings are held on a regular basis to discuss relevant issues and encourage communication of ideas. Representatives facilitate communication within the department by serving on most faculty committees, including search committees for new hires. BGSA committees organize many departmental activities-such as a graduate student invited speaker each semester, an annual picnic, graduate student retreat, and seminars. BGSA also raise funds to support graduate research (by giving one Riewald-Olowo grant a year) and undergraduate assistants (by providing gift cards for the best posters and presentations at the URAP symposium). For further information about BGSA, please follow the links to your left.

The success of BGSA comes from the participation and hard work from graduates students and the faculty's willingness to involve graduate students.
